Conference to Highlight Healthy Protein, Oils Requirements in Updated U.S. Dietary Guidelines
Soyatech, LLC -- SOUTHWEST HARBOR, ME -- February 24, 2011 -- Recently released updates to the U.S. Dietary Guidelines encourage Americans to eat a variety of protein foods, including soyfoods, and to reduce intake of solid and saturated fats. The program at next month’s Soyfoods2011: Plant Proteins and Oils for Better Nutrition conference will examine how the revised Dietary Guidelines may impact the development and marketing of soy-based and other healthful foods. Soyfoods2011, an annual event organized by Soyatech, LLC, the leading soy and oilseed industry intelligence resource, will be held on March 9, 2011 at the Sheraton Park Hotel in Anaheim, California. The new Dietary Guidelines publication also recommends that the average Americans reduce intake of saturated fats to less than 10 percent of calories consumed and suggests where possible replacing solid fats with monounsaturated and polyunsaturated oils. The Soyfoods2011 conference program will contain an afternoon breakout that will illuminate opportunities for makers of healthful oils and fats to help consumers understand and make appropriate dietary decisions.
