Sumitomo Chemical to Sell Australian Maker's Pesticides in Italy
Japan Economic Newswire -- TOKYO, JAPAN -- July 12, 2012 -- Sumitomo Chemical Co. said Thursday it had signed a contract with Australian pesticide maker Nufarm Ltd. to widen the scope of Nufarm's products marketed in Italy to all crop protection agents except for seed treatment chemicals.Under the contract, Sumitomo Chemical Italia S.r.l, a wholly owned arm of the Japanese chemical maker, will sell such Nufarm agents as insecticides, germicides and herbicides in the Italian market, starting on Aug. 1, it said.
Sumitomo Chemical, which owns 22.98 percent of Melbourne-based Nufarm, will take advantage of its Italian subsidiary's extensive access to distribution in the large European market, they added.
