Ukrainian Ministry of Agrarian Policy Predicts Grain Harvest at the Level of 46.5 Million Tons
Targeted News Service -- KIEV, UKRAINE -- September 12, 2012 -- The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine forecasts gross yield of grain harvest this year at the level of 46-46,5 million tons. That was told by Mykola Prysyazhnyuk, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food at a briefing after a Government meeting on September 12, 2012.According to him, 26.8 million tons are already harvested today, including 25.5 million tons of early grain.
Mykola Prysyazhnyuk said that wheat crop makes 14.5 million tons, of which are 80% - food grains.
The Minister also informed a corn is already harvested from 7% of areas, and there were threshed 1.2 million tons, buckwheat - from 50% of the areas and were threshed 150 thousand tons, millet - from 67% of the areas and were threshed 130 tons.
He also said, today farmers are sowing winter crops. In particular, 730 hectares are already planted with the winter crops, of which 660 thousand hectares - wheat, 53 thousand hectares - rie, 12 thousand hectares - barley. In addition, the areas sown with winter oilseed rape make 860 thousand hectares (90% of the forecast).
Total, as was reported by Mykola Prysyazhnyuk it's scheduled to plant winter crops of 9.1 million hectares, of which winter grain crops - 8.1 million hectares, winter rape - about 1 million hectares.
As regards the autumn field works, how was noted by the Minister, there are fuel and lubricants, fertilizers, plant protection in full.
