Soyatech History

Founded in 1985, Soyatech was originally formed to assist food companies develop and market soy-based food products. The company created such products as soy-based cheeses, meat alternatives, flavored tofu, soymilk-based desserts, spreads and dressings for a number of leading food processors and marketers.

In 1986, the company began publishing Soya Update newsletter to further support the company's R&D business. This publication covered news and developments related to the marketing and technology of soy-based foods and ingredients world-wide. In 1987, Soyatech purchased the Soya Bluebook from the American Soybean Association in St. Louis, which had been publishing the Bluebook since 1947. At the same time, Soya Update newsletter was renamed Bluebook Update. Over the next 10 years, Soyatech expanded the publication's distribution and coverage of soy products, and in 1996 began adding the world's other major oilseed crops to the book to more completely serve the processing industry. Also during that year, Soyatech launched its first website and began to offer the directory and newsletter over the Internet.  By 1999, the publication had been renamed Soya & Oilseed Bluebook as it had been expanded beyond soybeans to cover palm, sunflower, canola, rapeseed, peanut, corn, cottonseed and coconut.

The Soya & Oilseed Bluebook has continued to evolve into a true world-class publication and is distributed to all of the known processing plants operating in the world today.

To complement the annual directory, Soyatech began publishing and distributing over the Internet, a daily and weekly email news summary, Soyatech eNews in 2001. This highly valued and free of charge daily provides thousands of readers around the world with information on products, companies, markets and technology each business day.

In addition to the annual directory and the enews products, Soyatech has published multi-client syndicated reports each year since 1999, including the highly referenced U.S. Soyfoods Market report.

After working as a partner on 10 international conferences on soyfoods between 2000 and 2005, Soyatech organized its own Soya Summit in 2006, which was held in St. Louis. This event, the first of its kind to cover both food and energy related topics, continues to be expanded and has been renamed the Soya & Oilseed Summit for 2007. The event took place in Chicago November 11-13, 2007.

The consulting side of the business has continued to grow along with the company's publishing activities and in early 2006, this service area was greatly expanded through the acquisition of Soyatech by HighQuest Partners, LLC of Boston.

Soyatech continues to grow as a company in both its product and service offerings and its geographic reach. To stay current on the company's continuing activities, see our press releases.
